Yep, a ride is needed but too much snow in WV. Can't wait for a clear day or two and blast the open road. Need to ride the magic loop near home. Clears the mind.

A good friend of mine said many years ago "Understanding the intricacies of life, lies in the doing of the details"
I've understood this for years and I strive to abide by it, but what amazes me is the people who are not detail minded, and how offensive saying this to them can be.
I've even had people condemn me for being too fussy about details, when in my mind I'm simply doing what needs to be done.
I can only refer to the end results as the "proof" and hope that one day my example will lead to a change of heart in the naysayers.

I love hearing that you struck a nerve with your previous blog post highlighting the difference between a partner and vendor.
It actually fueled a memo that I blasted to my biggest vendor (you know who), which highlighted that thus far I have found one person in the whole building who communicates with me like a parnter. I pride myself on being as responsive as a parnter even when I am being treated like a vendor!

For my 2 cents worth:
A Partner finds a mistake you made in a design concept and fixes it.
A Vendor makes it wrong from your design, then will charge you again to make it right.
(from personal experience on this one)

Great Article!

Hi Dwain,

Condolences on your lost. Even though we have lost contact, I still read your blog and see the brilliance in your thoughts. Keep up the good work and let Richard's shining personality live in you.

Condolences for your loss, I empathise. My consolation was to take the "colour" added to my life and splash a few strokes into the lives of a few more folks myself. I knew my buddy was right there with me. Let your light so shine before men.

Hi Dwain!

I've always felt there was some kind of link between my love for riding and the mindset of an entrepreneur... and when i chanced across your book, it was as if you affirmed my thoughts!

I'm young (just hitting 30), been riding long enough to have been given the option of "maturing" to a car but choosing not to. I love everything about riding, from the bugs that splatter on my visor, to the rain-drenched clothes that is staple to our tropical thunderstorms. I subsist on the freedom and flexibility on-board 2-wheels, and i have begun to understand those same desires fuel most entrepreneurs!

Incidentally, i'm at that fearful junction in my life where i'm about to take that huge leap into my first full-fledged business. I'm afraid. Afraid of failing, of debts, of disappointing my loved ones. Yet I would rather not take up other options. I know that being an employee and not being able to make my own rules has the same thrill as getting caught in bumper-to-bumper traffic... in a cager!

Thank you for your book. In this period of fear and uncertainty in my life, you have reminded me that facing the fear but loving the ride is what all riders and business owners do every day.

Cheers, from the other side of the world!
